NERO® Model 556: Hybrid Muzzle Brake & Compensator
Neutralizing Energy, Remain at Origin

We set off to create the ideal compensating muzzle brake by starting from a blank canvas. Our goal was to completely transform the recoil impulse of the AR-15 into a simple, soft rearward push with zero muzzle climb. Due to the NERO 556's performance characteristics, we highly recommend using a firm but neutral grip when firing (specifically - resist any instinct to pull down on the rifle anticipating muzzle rise).

To achieve our design goal of zero muzzle rise, we had to reject all design constraints and engineer the NERO 556 from the ground up using computational fluid dynamics and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS – also referred to as “3D printed metal”). Leveraging these cutting-edge technologies also allowed us to manufacture a device using Inconel, a nickel-chromium superalloy more at home in rockets and jet engines (learn more about Inconel here), all to produce a muzzle brake that had no peer. Whether combat or competition, the NERO 556 is designed to give you the absolute ideal level of controllability and speed.

Designed & Engineered to:

  • Reduce Recoil
  • Minimize Muzzle Climb
  • Manage Felt Concussion Relative to Traditional Muzzle Brakes

Additional Attributes:

  • Compatibility: AR-15 | IWI Tavor (in 5.56mm)
  • Threads: 1/2x28
  • Calibers: 5.56x45mm NATO | .223 Remington | .224 Valkyrie

    Nero muzzle breaker

Excellent muzzle break...definitely reduced muzzle rise...high priced but worth the money

    Nero 556

This does exactly as said and described. The worst part(for this is habit of mine) is anticipating recoil and muzzle rise that isn’t there! It takes some range time and some rounds to break some habits on this one. After doing so it is a great pleasure to use on the rifle and keep on target! I highly recommend this product!

    Wow.

I was skeptical at first, having never shot with something like this before. That skepticism was gone after the first trigger pull. The Nero is everything they say it is and more. I can zoom in with the scope and rapid fire at 100 yards while staying on target. Incredible piece of engineering. And amazing customer service as well. Do yourself a favor and get one. Or one for every rifle you own.

I replaced the A2 birdcage with the Nero 556 on my Galil Ace. Completely changed the handling of the weapon. The Nero tames muzzle rise like no other muzzle device I've seen. It also dissipates backblast and does not punish people next to you shooting at the range. By redirecting the energy up instead of to the side, it allows to you make successive follow on shots and remain on target watching each bullet strike through the optic. I've been using this for two years now and can honestly state this is worth the price. Excellent product!

    Incredible Unit !!

Between WDR website & Optics Planet website, I've ordered 10 of these Nero muzzle devices. 1 for my wife's build, 2 for other people's rifles I've built and 7 for my rifles. (Including 1 of the 7.62 NEROs for a 1941 M1 Garand) I am a true believer in how this thing works! Ultra-flat shooting, recoil comparable to a .22 Mag and incomparable for shooting pleasure. I do not find that the device gives off the concussion that some others have reported and no-one in the next firing lane has mentioned anything to me other than curiosity about the Nero and how I find them to work on my rifles. These things actually perform as Walker says they do, just do not try to anticipate any recoil or you will start pulling the muzzle down and your 2nd & 3rd shots will go in the dirt in front of your target! Just hold the rifle in a firm and neutral grip, let the Nero do its job of keeping the rifle on target and you do your part with smooth trigger pulls; then you will see those 2nd, 3rd & 4th shots staying on target and those follow-on shots will be faster than you had normally or pre-Nero! Regards, Madd Matt in North Texas

The last break you'll ever need...

Until they somehow manage to improve on it! (I dont know how). Im running this thing on a 14.5 inch barrel and all I can say is when I fired the first shot, the second shot followed more quickly and naturally than any gun I've ever fired. The lack of recoil or rise was unbelievable. I actually had to check to make sure the bolt was fully closed. When you squeeze, the sight picture just blurs for an instant, and then you're back on target. Its simply perfect at being a muzzle brake. I'm a bit familiar with the physics used to design the NERO, as well as the manufacuring process. This brake has no doubt made all other brake designs obsolete. It is everything you can't do with simple stock removal/machining. The shapes inside are literally impossible to do on any scale of production without 3D laser sintering. The design itself wouldn't be possible without 3D computer modeling and fluid dynamics simulation. Its simply the first of the next generation of muzzle brakes...and maybe the last too. Probably not. :)

    Enthusiast

I have used a multitude of brakes and very few had any appreciable gain... the NERO was completely different. While the 5.56 is not a heavy recoiling round, this virtually eliminates barrel rise and allows you to stay in the glass and at point of aim much easier. I would absolutely recommend this brake. As a gear nerd, how could you not buy this just because it is 3d printed Inconel? You won't be disappointed either way.

    Legit-ness.

I'm just an old chunk of coal so dont take my word for it but by golly this thing shoots flat. Its no joke. 3d printed Inconel? Its wizardry, but it shoots flat.

Absolutely amazing. It has zero bounce. It doesn't lift. The videos are accurate but it's great to feel in real life. Highly highly recommend it. Drew was great and took the time to talk to me about mine. This is a great product and I will buy more. If you are on the fence... do it! You won't be disappointed. It's a legit product and makes a great addition to your piece.

    Works great.

This works great. By far the best muzzle device I own. I had a problem with my order that was completely my fault, WDR responded same day and fixed it for me. GREAT customer service.
